On the Eddy Parametrization of Gent-McWilliams-Redi
The eddy parametrization of Gent-McWilliams-Redi forms a milestone in global ocean modelling and constitutes a central part of any general ocean circulation model. In this talk we discuss mathematical properties of the eddy parameterisation when used with the hydrostatic Boussinesq equations of global ocean dynamics. Particular emphasis is is given to the relation between regularity properties of the solution of the hydrostatic Boussinesq equations and the Gent-McWilliams-Redi eddy operator.
L'exposé aura bien exceptionnellement lieu vendredi 29 septembre.
